Class: Death Knight

- First Name: Michael
- Your Country / Time zone: USA, EST.
- Age: 22

- Do you have Ventrilo and working microphone?
Not only do I have ventrilo and a microphone, I also have a voice.

- Are you able to handle mature (or immature) content on Ventrilo and in guild chat?
I can even enjoy it.

- Do you have the capacity to clearly communicate, yet have a knowledge of when it's appropriate to keep comments to yourself?
I completely understand both the neccessity and problems of communicating on vent. I know what I need and should call out, and how to do it efficiently. I also know calling things out can cause confusion or just extra vent chatter. I know guilds can differ in the things they may want called out, and I'm confident in adapting on an encounter to encounter basis.

- Are you presently employed or a student. Will it interfere with your ability to raid? Will you be able to attend 99% of our raids? Do you have any other Real Life obligations which might prevent you from attending 99% of our raids? Will you, in the near future, have any obligations that will make you unable to raid?
I'm currently employed and attend classes, both part-time. My work schedule is very flexible and my class hours are almost irrelevant.(Morning and I usually don't even need to attend). I have no problems commiting and making it to EVERY raid.

- Do you have any PC or disconnect issues we should know about?
Stable internet and comfortable FPS. I'll never use lag as an excuse during a raid.

- Are you able to handle harsh criticism? You can, and will, be subjected to harsh criticism and you will be called out when you do not perform.
Handle and expect it. I like having to be on my toes. I've been in guilds that have been very harsh, you learn not to make the same mistake.

- Class / Character Name: Death Knight(unholy) / Cuddletrain
- Race: Orc
- Professions: JC/LW

- Do your professions increase your performance in raids? Explain your choices
These professions do benefit me. However, they're not the most optimal. Ideally, I'd be blacksmithing and not have Jewelcrafting.(this is relevant only when I have epic gems in every slot). There could be an arguement made for engineering, however with Spine favoring on-use trinkets it makes the professions much-less desirable.

- Total time played (/played) and Time played at 85
172 days, 10 hours 31 minutes
30 days 20 hours 25 minutes

-Is this your first main character? If not what did you used to play? When did you start playing WoW? Please provide detailed information about time spent on all your previous characters. Tell us as much as you can, the more the better.
I originally played a priest in Vanilla. I started a couple weeks before naxx was released. Before I even hit 60 I ended up raiding molten core with some guild on my server. Even though I was new I was still driven, I leveled tailoring and crafted all 3 of the epics I could after farming all the mats. I kept clearing MC, got into a little BWL, and just wasn't happy. I wanted more. I tried playing all 3 specs and see what capabilites my class had. After a bunch of hard word I was able to raid a little bit of naxx and aq40 as shadow before BC was released. In BC I had the same appropach, abuse tailoring for gear. Within a week I had all the crafted gear I needed. I joined the best guild on my server and never looked back. I wanted to improove as much as I could. I ended up playing a priest all the way up to the BT Plague which killed every guild ever.

At this point I rerolled a warlock geared him out and a month prior to sunwell joined a very high ranking guild. I felt competitive with the other players in my class despite being so far behind in gear. I was present for 2 of their first 4 sunwell kills, but a ton of guild drama later I decided I was going to leave and raid with an old guild officer. That didn't work out either, the guild broke up, and I was stuck. At this point I started playing my priest again but I didn't stop playing my warlock. My priest ended up killing mu'ru before the nerf, and my warlock followed suit. Eventually, I was raiding in 3 different raids a week on different characters.(and not missing a single raid)

By the end of the expansion I wasn't raiding as much but I was excited. I played a ton of WotLK beta and decided I wanted to play a DK. (for me it symbolized a fresh start) I got as much prep as I could to level as quickly as possible. I fell in love with this class and never imagined switching again. That all changed when t11 heroics came around, the most miserable raiding experience i've ever had. I didn't want to even log-on to play. Bringing 2 melee to a bunch of fights and fights just being so awkward to have melee on was frustrating. At one point I only logged on when we were doing Nef/Sinestra. This was the first time I lost interest in raiding and was kicked eventually because of it. After that I quit the game for a few months, came back to play casually in 10 mans, and couldnt justify playing a melee. My warlock came off the bench and has been my main up until this point. Going back to 25 mans I feeel I can once again play the class I enjoy most, this time smart enough to have a plan-b incase melee is unfavorable.

-Main Spec: (x/x/x) (include a link from http://www.wowhead.com if it differs from the spec you presently have on armory). If you have a relevant offspec for raiding, tell us about that as well.
Unholy.
Depending on Fight I may prefer RPM, IBT, AMZ, or Contagion. There's a ton of subtle options you have when specing unholy that most people don't notice.
http://www.wowhead.com/talent#jbhZhZshcdfMuMRu
is a pretty generic spec. for something like ultraxion i'd prefer to drop contagion for one point in magic suppresion and one in improved blood tap.(Assuming I didn't need AMZ) On a fight like yorsajh I'd prefer to get 2 points into IBT dropping 1 in MS and 1 in RPM. The differences are extremely small, however.

-Armory Link: [paste your link here] (Be sure to log out with your raiding gear on)

and here is my warlock
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/skul...r/Rtrain/simple

-What is your current guild?
Onslaught(5/8H)

-What were the last 3 guilds you were in? What are the reasons for leaving your last and current guild? Tell us about your time in each and how active you were in each.

Exodus - I was kicked. I stopped logging on for raids and made a joke one night when I showed up for Sinestra about me being there and no one else being on and I guess that combined with my relative disinterest in raiding at the time was enough for kaywarrior to kick me. I'm sure there's a bunch of rumors about me being a bad player there, but when I was kicked I certainly didn't feeel that way. I could of easilly apped and joined another guild, but I knew my heart wasn't in it for this content, I had no chance of succeeeding.

Krypteia(10m) - First guild I joined when I came back. I was made an officer quickly, and eventually somehow manage to "take over" this guild and become raid leader. It really wasn't my intention but the other officers felt it'd be best. We were nothing special but I was really able to get casual players to push content as hard as they possibly could. This guild stayed together until we merged with Onslaught.

Onslaught(10m) - Basically was an officer here. We ended up finishing US50th for Rag.(like 19th 10 man or something dumb). Alot of people ended up quiting before dragon soul and it's beeen downhill from there.

- What end game raiding experience do you have? (This includes in vanilla WoW, TBC and WOTLK as well as Cata. be specific.) Be thorough. The more detail the better.

Vanilla:
AQ40/Early Naxx(started playing right before Naxx came out)

BC:
2 top 50 gruul kills
Vashj/Kael pre-nerf
Top 50 Illidan/Archimonde
Top 25 first 3 sunwell bosses(sat for kalecgos)
Top 50 Twins+Muru. (couple top 100 kills on other chars as well)

Wrath:
Top 50 on all relevant bosses(mimiron, algalon, yogg-0, freya)
Top 50 Through-out ICC

Cataclysm:
Multiple top 5 US kills including US 2nd Magmaw.
Didn't Kill Nef/Sinestra/Al'akir when relevant(quit playing)
Top 50 Firelands
5/8 Heroic with tons of Warmaster Experience.

- Any special Achievements / Titles / Mounts you have earned in PvE you would like us to know about?
Tribute to Immortality
Shadowmourne
Dragonwrath
He Feeds On Your Tears
Grand Crusader
Celestial Defender
Death's Demise.

Everyone of these achievement brings a memory back to me.

- Link to WWS / WMO logs of recent raid(s) you have attended.

#1 on yorsajh(10h) parse(I forgot to parse morchok)

- Provide a Quick Summary of your "Valuable" Stats (Healing, Attack Power, etc.) as you understand them for your class.

Strength > All
Haste > Crit > Mastery

There is a Haste threshold where I might prioritize something over it, but I'm not even close to the point where I feel I should drop haste.

EJ may suggest something like Mastery > Crit if you have Gurthalak, but I don't believe this is true. Crit is undervalued by the EJ community.(Especially if you're abusing disease rolling) Any fight where there's multiple adds crit > mastery by a decent margin.
Simulations sometimes overvalue crit, however. (Example Simulationcraft suggests I prioritize crit > haste > mastery.) I'm fairly confident with the stat weights I'm using to be most optimal for myself.

- Which major and prime glyphs do you currently use? Explain your choices
Prime: SS, DC, Ghoul. - These are the best DPS glyphs.(possible to use DnD on some fights*)
Major: AMS, Pestilence, X(blood boil) - The first 2 are the most relevant. I can use any 3rd glyph and have the same results.

- Do you have dualspec, and is your offspec something you could viably play in raids?
Of course. My second spec will usually be a 2nd raiding spec, unless it's just not needed. Wether it's adding AMZ,just a few talent point changes, or a completely different spec.

- What spec do you prefer? Are you willing to respec if an emergency arises? Are you willing to respec to the optimal spec for a progression boss?
Unholy. If it's viable I will want to play this spec 100% of the time I can. I don't mind playing frost or even blood, but I will play unholy when I get the chance too. (I will also play the most efficient version I can for each boss fight)

- How do you feel about sitting out for any given encounter if we do not need you? It will happen.
I do not mind sitting. You need every edge you can get to get a first kill at a high level. If someone's going to offer more then I can, I will happily sit and root for the team.

- Are you willing to spend 400+ gold a night in repairs and consumables, stay focused and wipe for 4 hours straight, come back the next day and do it all over again until a new boss dies (even on "farm" content)?
I spent over 400g a flask on Ysondre when we raided the first week. Id easily go through 3k+ a night in consumables. I have no problem staying focused for 4 hours without distractions, and I love farm content.( I try to parse on every fight, this makes farm content enjoyable)

- What is your reason for applying? What makes us more appealing that any one of the thousands of other raiding guilds out there?
1) Lack of a raiding DK is quite appealing
2) This guilds seeems to be on the up opposed to the decline(like vigil, premo, tg, etc.)
3) Awesome name...

- Who, if anyone, will vouch for your abilities in WWA?
Ashkore may be the only person who knows of me. I doubt he has anything positive to say. I originally asked him what he thought before I applied. His response almost detoured me from applying. However, I'm more then confident in my abilities and decided it's in my best interest to app.

- Post a screenshot of your UI.(If you are having trouble, use the free image hosting resources of http://imageshack.us)
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/69/wo...1211004649.jpg/

- Last words: Show us what sets you apart from the rest of the candidates; what makes you better? What can you bring to WWA? What do you want us to know that wasn’t covered? Let us know why WE want YOU. This is your last chance to impress us, be thorough. Do not answer this question with one sentence. Once again, the more complete the answer, the better.

I have a ton of raiding experience. From helping random guilds on PTR learn boss fights, to raid leading, to being an officer, to being one of the highest parsing dks in togc/icc, I've experienced it all. I'm not only confident in my abilities to play my class, but I'm also confident in my ability to provide positive feedback/ideas while learning an encounter.

My current spec on armory even has AMZ. I think AMZ is worth speccing and useful on several fights including

Morchok: (Soaking crystals)
Warlord: (For late ball bounces)
Ultraxion: (For Soaking HoT)
Warmaster: (For soaking Onslaughts)
Madness: (For Elementium bolt)

However, AMZ won't be the answer to every fight. It's mediocre on spine/yorsajh. And who knows how useful it'll be in the future.

My intention wasn't saying AMZ wasn't worth speccing into, I was just relaying the possibility of it not being needed or possibly even used.

For the lack of logs, I apologize. I should have a few normal clears, but the only heroic parse I have is the yorsajh one I linked sad.gif.

The reason he's saying that is our last dk didn't grab it after going 3/3 the tier before hand.

I'm also curious as to why you don't want to play your lock as your main when it has a dtr

You conflict yourself by saying you've quit (were kicked) because you weren't brought in and that melee wasn't at all favored, but then you say you are more than willing to sit. Do you see the conflict here?

I understand what you are saying about T11 and everyone's feelings towards melee during that time, but to not show up simply because of that fact doesn't show good qualities. I raided all T11 with my guild having two ret paladins most of the time... you know how I got into raids? By showing up and performing well.

Whether you felt needed or not, dodging raids is never a good sign. As it's something we've already had to struggle with this tier alone, how can you show that now you are willing to sit out?

I switch to lock because I had a firm believing melee was useless in 10m raiding. Now that I'm switching to 25m I'd much prefer to play my DK especially considering how much favorable melee has become. As for the staff part, my rogue's going to have daggers eventually, and I have no interest in playing that as my main.

In Exodus, Kaywarrior usually just had us decide among us who would sit. We had two raiding DK's, and I usually offered to sit for reckognize(he had more gear, so he did slightly more damage) The rogues were in a similar situation but were useful on a lot of fights our dk's werent. I actually dont think we ever brought a non dk/rogue melee to a progression fight.(Except on nef we brought enhance shaman)

I did make a mistake with Exodus. That was trying to force myself to raid when I didn't want to. T11 was the first and only time I lost interest in playing this game. I handled that situation very poorly, and paid a steeep price for it. What I believe I should of done was been clear with my intentions of taking a break, instead of being an unreliable fat idiot.

*Edit*
I'd like to point out quiting was a huge mistake. It didn't take long for me to come back. I don't plan on ever being in a situation like that again. This time I'm confident in multi-classing incase raid content demands it.

Small world.

If you're looking for a judge of character I raided with Dares(I guess Squad now) for a decent amount of time.
